SURVEYING Surveying Services for Wind Turbines - Zeeland Board of Public Works HEI's Surveying Department recently assisting the Zeeland Board of Public Works with surveying services for the Wind Turbines located at Helder Park in Holland, MI. The twin turbines feature 25-foot blades and will generate an estimated 170,000 to 185,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually or enough energy to power approximately 22 homes.
Shoreline Drive Jurisdictional Transfer - City of Muskegon/Michigan Department of Transportation HEI's Surveying Department was selected by the City of Muskegon to assist with surveying services for the jurisdictional transfer of Shoreline Drive designating it as a state business route. This survey step must be taken to designate the lakefront boulevard as U.S. 31 Business Route. In order to move forward with the transfer, a complex survey of the entire right-of-way must be conducted and then the survey must be approved by MDOT before they assume responsibility of the new business route. Survey Services- HEI provided a full topographic survey of the project limits, describe and define the right-of-way limits, develop the legal alignment and describe the right-of-way boundaries of Shoreline Drive. HEI will then reproduce the project within the existing Plat of 1903.
KL Avenue Landfill - EQ Industrial Services HEI's Surveying Department provided assistance to EQ Industrial Services, Inc. for the capping of the KL Avenue Landfill in Kalamazoo County, Michigan. The project involved the capping of a 60-acre dormant landfill with a geosynthetic liner covering the entire waste area. Survey services - initial topographic survey, horizontal and vertical control and proposed grade staking Design services - grade certifications, volumetric calculations and recordation drawings Wayne County Surveying & Remonumentation Project Survey services– Although HEI will be surveying section corners throughout 2006 and 2007, for the previous 2 years, HEI has been focusing on the SW side of the City of Detroit beginning at historic Fort Wayne and continuing northerly surveying the Private Claims along the Detroit and Rouge Rivers.
M-22 Right-of-Way and Design Survey- Michigan Department of Transportation HEI provided MDOT's NorthRegion with a design and right-of-way survey on M-22. The survey was provided on M-22 from the Village of Omena to the Village of Northport in picturesque Leelanau County, Michigan.
HEI provided over 20 miles of road design and structure surveying services to MDOT for US-10 through Midland County. For the road design, HEI is providing horizontal and vertical control and cross sections at 500' intervals throughout the project with 100' superelevated curves. HEI is also providing a structure survey for US-10 over Sanford Lake. The project kicked off the middle of May and is expected to continue until late fall of this year.
