BRIEF
As part of a mussel survey and relocation project, our biologists completed snorkel surveys of the Huron River in metro Detroit. Due to the new mussel protocol requirements and tight project deadlines, this project had to be completed quickly and efficiently.
Within the project area, the team found two species of special concern and one threatened species (as rated by the state of Michigan). Over the course of one week, some 400 mussels were tagged with shellfish or PIT tags and relocated. The success of the relocation will be monitored through 2019.
