Civil Infrastructure

CIVIL INFRASTRUCTURE

Since 1977, Holland Engineering has been providing professional surveying and engineering solutions specifically tailored to our clients’ needs. Since inception, our firm has provided high-quality consulting services at a competitive cost.

Our projects have ranged from residential and commercial developments to fire remediation consulting and our staff is uniquely qualified to address the broad spectrum of your infrastructure consulting needs. Our experience has also given us the opportunity to understand and balance the sometimes competing objectives of property owners, private industry and local governments to produce projects that are both cost-effective and have long-term appeal.

Residential Services

Our wide range of experience and expertise enables us to understand, balance, and fulfill the civil infrastructure needs of property owners, private industry, and local governments.

We have the skills and experience to provide clients with responsive services on a variety of projects throughout the Midwest—and beyond. Our surveyors are registered in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Texas, Arizona, South Dakota, Alaska, and Florida.

All members of our staff team are fully trained in both traditional and advanced methods of surveying. Our office staff use the latest versions of computer-based surveying, mapping, and design software to deliver high-quality paper and electronic files in whatever format our client requires.

Our services range from large topographic and boundary surveys to subdivision platting, and our advanced surveying tools include Mobile LiDAR Scanning, Global Position Systems (GPS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and High-Definition Surveying (3D laser scanning). This breadth of services and capabilities allows us to apply the most appropriate tools and cost-effective methods to each project.

All construction jobs—from the simplest home expansion to the most complex public infrastructure project—require permits in order to be legal. Our design professionals have many years of experience identifying and obtaining the necessary permits from a wide range of agencies, including private entities, local authorities, and county, state, federal, and tribal governments.

Permit Examples

  • Elevation Certificate (EC)
  • Critical dune and high risk erosion area (HREA) permits
  • MDEQ Floodplain and Wetland permits
  • On-site water / wastewater permits (well and septic)
  • Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control (SESC) permits
  • Municipal permits and variance applications

A quality retaining wall system is a significant investment and should provide long-term benefits to your home or business. Our team is highly experienced in the design and permitting of most major wall systems and has the expertise needed to insure the soundness and longevity of your system.

Although integral to every project, stormwater drainage and runoff management are often overlooked—until they fail. When water does not flow away from a structure quickly enough, flooding can occur. When water flows too quickly or in undesirable locations and erosion and other property damage can occur. Our design professionals are experts in all types of drainage design and stormwater management and can provide robust and cost-effective solutions.

Sometimes the most difficult part of a project is getting started. Our multi-disciplinary team of design professionals knows which questions to ask in order to best understand not only your project site but also  your project goals. Infrastructure Services

Infrastructure makes our daily lives possible, meaning we don’t give it much thought. It’s only when something stops working, capabilities are outgrown, or repairs are required that we notice the water treatment facilities, sewer lines, roads, utility grids, bridges, and railways that support day-to-day living.

By applying our technical expertise and integrating environmental, engineering, economic, political, and social factors directly into our planning process, we ensure successful outcomes that will work tomorrow as well as they do today.

Our Services

  • Feasibility studies
  • Master planning

We understand what it takes to gain necessary stakeholder support across a range of sectors, from development and highways to rail and energy. We bring our technical expertise to bear when advising our clients on infrastructure risks and solutions, determining viability of schemes, and engaging with planning authorities. Our aim is to engineer the most sustainable infrastructure solution for your project, while keeping down costs, managing cash flow, and meeting your timeline.

Whether your project calls for joining with existing facilities, coordinating with surrounding developments, or exploring new schemes, we will advise you on the best approach, from design through construction and operation. We also perform asset/program management planning services to ensure the long-term operational and financial sustainability of infrastructure in your city.
